I'll post so no one else will need to.

The answer is Mac.

You're welcome.

Here's why, as if reasons are needed:

Well, i truly believe that Macs are more efficient for office use! And also pretty much all multi-media use too...

Anyway i don't wish to suggest the PC's suck or are in anyway inferior but i wish suggest that they are slower for general use (not for processing).

For example, we have the 'Expose' setting, which allow you to view multiple windows and programmes in an instant. Also the dashboard widgets are handy for quick and efficient use... so what am i saying?

I'm saying don't out rule my friend the Mac but embarrass a new way of thinking....

Thank you for your time....

In some ways this is an odd question as Macs are also personal computers. What really is a PC after all?? A load of randomly selected components from a wide selection of manufacturers, thrown together in a pan and held together with the glue (that doesn't really work) Microsoft Windows!

A bit of a grim view of what actually could be a good thing. Is it really surprising that Microsoft has a hard time making an operating system that runs properly on basically anything any old company decides to produce and label (FOR PC)?

I would like to suggest that a PC built to Microsoft’s recommended specification, could compete extremely well with an Apple Mac. I'm not at this point even interested in processing speed etc.. as there are too many variable to take into account.

Also with the introduction of Vista, prospects are looking bright for the tame PC, in terms of accessibility and general usage (Even if they did copy the MacOS :S). And I would have thought that by the time the 3rd service pack comes out, we may even be able to run software on it!

Macs have even recently crossed the line into the realms of PChood by using INTEL processors allowing Microsoft Windows to be installed on them! So can we really say that the Macintosh hardware still falls into this argument now??

Although I don't seem to be displaying it very well, I have a deep down love for PC's. So now to the next question, “What will my next computer purchase be??”

..

..

Well... its going to be.. an Apple! Mostly because my favourite bit of software in the WORLD "Logic Pro!" has now been bought by Apple and will only run under MacOS! However, I will always have a trusty old MS Windows PC running in the corner to remind me of the "good old days!".

Thanks for reading! and I hope this wasn't too long an answer!

Oh! A beautiful comment Sam... But what your saying is that ultimately the Mac wins!

Um, well i have to say that im a die hard PC fan, thus PC rulz! Anyway i think most probably the best combination of hardware and OS is PC components with Linux OS. This is great and beats both Microsoft PCs and Macs. The reason being its open source!! So you can ultimately make it look and do whatever you want. Also since it is even more of a Unix operating system than Mac OSX i would argue that it is even more secure against viruses, etc... There is also a growing market in the business arena for these Linux PCs, due to there reliablity and security. There are also many games that can be downloaded and played on Linux(granted not as many as Windows) giving it the most important aspect as well, computer gaming. In conclusion, Macs or ok, Windows PCs are not so ok and Linux PCs just kick ass. =D

I can't really comment or choose because I've never actually owned a Mac before due to we've always been a PC family. However, from the features I've seen of other peoples Macs I might just become a permanent Mac user someday...

But for now I'm sticking with my PC because I just bought it. Good enough reason.

I have also been reminded by Dan that Linux is also FREE! Thus it is a great option for people who dont have much money =)
