Vegetarians

I'm marrying a vegetarian and well I'm slowly being converted! Every time i see chicken i want to wretch and everything on Catherine's plate looks better (more colourful). I'm already getting annoyed at the people who say "Oh! Really? You mean your a? Vegetarian!?". Anyway what's wrong with being a vegetarian and what's right about it?

First, i love the opening line of this blog Dan! I am that veggier you are stuck marrying.
And so, as that mentioned vegetarian I feel I should say few things to my chosen lifestyle, however not to defend (because I feel no need to prove my reasoning's) but to explain.

My choice to not eat meat came about 5 years ago when a dislike for the taste of meat arose and was accompanied by an awareness of how the meat I was eating was treated and fed. As most know, often the meat that we buy is from places where livestock is kept in small areas and fed a diet of poor nutrition or hormones. These are things that I don't need in my body.

As for the argument I often get from Christians saying that God created the animals for us to eat, I say sure! He did create the animals for people to eat but just as someone may have a distaste for vegetables and not eat them very often or at all, I have a distaste of most meats and choose not to consume them.

Therefore this decision is a personal choice and not for everyone. I will never try and convert someone to my way of eating (and no i'm not converting Dan). I done much research to how I can properly fill my nutrition needs through other foods that appeal more to my taste which is absolutely necessary for any vegetarian.

Anyway, I shall conclude my long speech by saying to those who are reading this who may oppose veggies be open to others life choices and perhaps understand something about a vegetarians reasons before tearing their diet apart.

Thank you my beautiful wife-to-be!

I see one obvious flaw/minor imperfection to your comparison between a vegetarian and a non-vegetable eater. The problem with this flaw is that it pretty much blows the entire analogy out of the water.

The flaw is simple; a non-vegetable eater would try a new type of vegetable to see if they like it and if they did then they would continue to eat it. However a vegetarian wouldn’t consider trying a new type of meat because firstly if they liked it they would no longer be a vegetarian; secondly because they automatically assume that they wouldn’t like it! So it sounds like vegetarians are stuck in a rut.

Ps. If you eat any meat products, then you are not a vegetarian but you are a fussy meat eater!!!

PPs. That’s a fact, you can check it out in the dictionary…. Vegetarian means no meat!

Ok then Dan...

First there many types of vegetarians! Some eat fish and no other meat... some (like vegans) eat no animal products at all. Or there are ones like me, who eat no meat at all right now. I've been thinking about eating fish due to I know I like fish (sometimes when it's prepared well) and it makes it easier to eat in places.

The truth is I don't really care about the label of being a "vegetarian". I would only call myself that label because it is easy to help people to understand my diet.
One thing I will admit is that I am a picky eater! For example I don't really like pasta(especially white pasta)very much. I do like trying new foods but I still don't know how I feel about eating an animals flesh... It makes my stomach turn. Please believe that I actually don't really like the taste or idea of meat and believe that not eating it can be just (or more) healthy! haha It's not like I haven't tried it before. I wasn't born a non-meater!

Ps. Why can't I just eat beans and tofu? I like thoses. please... please...

Dude, i cant believe that you would become a veggie. It brings a sorrow to my heart to see you join the other side. But anyway, I guess it makes life easier when you guys live together.

Well i tried to put another comment but didnt work, so i'll try again. As i was trying to say, it is quite unfamthomable to think of you as a veggie and brings a sadness to my heart. To think of you converting to the other side. Nevertheless it will no doubt make living together easier, so i wish you the best of luck in your conversion. *crys*
