A Fresh Perspective

Well i've been back in the UK for 6 weeks.... loving home sweet home i must say... but to my point!

I was wondering is it better to take risks and enjoy life more but increase your chance of injury or even death? Or is it better to take less risks with the hope that you might live longer and learn to enjoy less dangerous and less "fun" things?

What do you think?

I think this depends heavily on your position in life. I don't mind taking risks in pursuit of fun, however I would always advise weighing each situation up as it comes. God gave us this life to use for his glory, so I don't believe wasting it would make him happy.

Also, for me, I am relatively free from responsibility, to the extent that no one is actually dependant on me. For those who are Married and even have children, you have to ask yourself, whose happiness are you ultimately risking?!

Hmmmm....before I got married i would have said take risks all the time (hence the sky-diving and jumping off buildings etc).

However, now i'm married, I'd say some risks are completely worth taking, but you have to count the cost and draw the line somewhere.

I think the whole 'living for today' thing is one of the 'curses' of our age. You start caring about what you haven't done instead of what exciting stuff may still be ahead of you.

Also, it becomes an excuse to be selfish and irresponsible.

And thats the end of that chapter.....

Risks. Life is kind of stagnant without them.

Until you have children, then there are some that a person should really think about first.

First, I will say that not all activities that are enjoyable or worth the time and effort involve the chance of injury or loss of life. There are many "risks" that we take everyday that may injure our feelings or personality because we have taken the chance of exposing our character.

Plus who said that being injured or almost dying is “more fun" then something a little less risky!?! Sure being dangerous offers the thrill but so do many other things that don't involve bleeding profusely.

However, I do agree that taking risks do make our daily lives increasingly exciting and if given a choice, would often choose the dangerous activity over the safe because that's my character.
But I wouldn't be stupid and do something ridiculous like teasing poisonous snakes. Now that's just dumb.

Ps. planning on taking any major risks that involve the shortening of your life in the near future that I don't know about Dan?

I think what Catherine said is the scariest thing of all for some of us...exposing our character or being honest, completely honest, can be paralyzingly daunting.
